7150 - A Tasmanian Postcode

Weed Identification Day - Longley, June 2003

A good turnout on an overcast but fine Sunday afternoon, attendees were shown many of the environmental weeds, as well as a number of native species, at the Longley Reserve, Longley. The reserve borders the North West Bay River and suffers from many of the weeds now prevalent through south eastern Tasmania, including Spanish Heath, Elisha's Tears, Blackberry, Pussy Willow (an emerging problem), Holly, Radiata Pine, and a host of others. Thanks to Alan Gray, Andrew Crane and Barry Hardwick for pointing out these problem plants, as well as identifying a number of native species.
